DPUC Issues Layoff Stay

Attorney General Blumenthal's opening remarks were incisive. The acoustics were terrible. The docket was moved to the larger of the two hearing rooms where the microphones/PA system didn't work. There were many Union members and supporters in attendance and all were straining to hear CEO Robert Allessio explain why the Company had failed to answer, and still couldn't answer,  the more important questions posed by the DPUC. Following an 11 AM recess, Presiding Commissioner Amalia Vazquez Bzdyra denied the Company's motion to have several answers placed under a protective order (they have 1 week to re-file them electronically) and issued a stay of the layoffs (as noted in the Courant article) which expires when the hearing continues on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, provided the Companies have presented the requested detailed information to the satisfaction of the DPUC.
